The Genesis
SV Walsum 1919 & SG Wacker Walsum 1920 – Two Clubs, One Legacy
For decades, SV Walsum 1919 and SG Wacker Walsum 1920 played a defining role in amateur football in the north of Duisburg. Deeply rooted in their local community, both clubs stood for what football is truly about: passion, unity, and a strong sense of belonging.
Generations of players, families, and volunteers made these clubs more than just teams. They were places where people came together, where young talent was developed, and where a true love for the game was lived every day.
Like many amateur clubs, they eventually faced growing challenges. Limited resources and structural changes made it necessary to rethink the future.
The answer was a shared step forward:
Through the merger of both clubs, Eintracht Walsum was formed with the goal of combining strengths and securing the long-term future of football in the region.
While the names SV Walsum and Wacker Walsum are no longer active, their spirit and legacy live on in Eintracht Walsum.
Tradition doesn’t end. It evolves.

SG Wacker Walsum 1920 – A legacy of grassroots football in the Ruhr region
SG Wacker Walsum 1920 was founded in 1920 in the Duisburg district of Walsum and developed over many decades into an established part of amateur football in North Rhine-Westphalia. The club belonged to the traditional category of community-based sports clubs that have shaped football culture across the Ruhr region.
Sporting activity was firmly rooted in regional amateur football. Participation in local league structures formed the core of the club’s sporting identity, with an emphasis on continuity, team football, and development within the community rather than results beyond the regional level.
